Regulations

Mini racing in Australia brings together friendly, welcoming enthusiasts who love close competition on the track and genuine camaraderie off it. Our community values good sportsmanship, shared learning, and the joy of racing Minis in all their forms.

The Mini Challenge exists to provide an annual championship built on good‑spirited racing. The series welcomes everything from highly modified Minis to the cost‑effective and closely matched Cooper S class.

  • Develop driving skills and race craft

  • Build knowledge of car setup to optimise performance

  • Offer a racing category that remains affordable and accessible

  • Foster an environment of camaraderie, support and shared learning

  • Use a points system that recognises different vehicle classes and driver skill levels

The series also aims to to encourage new drivers entering the sport. Newcomers will be supported, guided and assisted by experience competitors who are expected to show consideration to them under race conditions.

The following classes apply within the Mini Challenge, subject to the rules and regulations outlined:

  • Open - Full freedom in accordance with 3D Sport Sedan Regulations

  • Modified - Limited modifications permitted

  • Modern Challenge - A parity class for modified R53 Minis

The purpose of these regulations is to support fun, competitive, and budget‑friendly motorsport for Mini drivers across the country. Any driver or vehicle found to be outside the spirit of these regulations during technical scrutiny may be moved to the next higher racing class. Where rules appear ambiguous, competitors are encouraged to consult the Category Manager and Eligibility Officer (EO). If clarity cannot be reached, a meeting of competing drivers will be held, and a simple majority vote will determine the outcome.
